Screen Time Eye Care Page
11. Recognising and reporting problems
Early warning signs may include aching, stiffness, tingling, numbness, weakness, headaches, dry eyes or
discomfort that increases during the working day. You may notice that you repeatedly rub a shoulder,
shake a hand, lean towards the screen or change position because the current one is uncomfortable.
Do not ignore these signs or wait until they prevent you from working. Report concerns promptly to your
line manager or through the current Titus Learning health and safety process. Explain when the
symptoms occur, what tasks you are doing and what seems to make them better or worse.
The next step may be a workstation adjustment, another DSE assessment, different equipment, a
temporary change in work pattern or advice from a trained assessor or occupational health professional.
The right response depends on the person and the problem.
Tell Titus Learning if you have a disability, injury, pregnancy-related need or health condition that affects
your workstation requirements and you are comfortable doing so through the appropriate confidential
route. Reasonable adjustments and individual advice may be needed. A standard setup will not meet
every person's needs.
You should also report damaged or unstable furniture, faulty adjustment mechanisms, electrical damage,
trailing cables and environmental problems such as persistent glare, poor lighting or unsuitable
temperature.
