DSE Overview Page
2. DSE and the law
The main UK requirements are set out in the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations
1992, as amended. The regulations apply to workers who use DSE as a significant part of their normal
work. Health and Safety Executive guidance describes a DSE user as someone who uses DSE daily for
continuous periods of an hour or more.
This is likely to include many roles at Titus Learning. The rules can apply whether the work is carried out
at a fixed desk, at home, through hybrid working, while hot-desking or on the move.
For people covered by the regulations, Titus Learning must assess the workstation and reduce identified
risks. The company must also plan work so that prolonged DSE activity is interrupted by breaks or
changes of activity, provide suitable information and training, and arrange an eye and eyesight test when
an eligible DSE user requests one.
