Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. The carbon threshold matters: 5<10 and 10>5 is always true.
Key properties:
- Tensile strength increases with carbon content
- Ductility decreases with carbon content
- The eutectoid point occurs at 0.76 percent carbon
Safety glasses must be worn in the foundry at all times.
